Whether you’re looking to hone your alpine skills, learn more about modern alpinism or have a specific objective in mind like Rainier or the Tantalus traverse, our Advanced Mountaineering and Alpinism course will cover the skills you need to safely and efficiently travel through the mountains!
With a focus on providing a well-rounded, but modern approach to alpine climbing our Advanced Mountaineering course covers everything from trip planning and navigation to alpine rock, snow and ice climbing and technical descents. Ideal for anyone that’s been playing in the mountains a bit but really wants to take their skills to the next level.
The Advanced Mountaineering course is based out of the Squamish and Whistler areas mainly with some groups heading up as far as Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. Not the lakes of course but the peaks in behind the tourist trails. Past Advanced Mountaineering have included field days in the Tantalus Range, Wedge area, Garibaldi, etc. The exact location of the various days can vary a bit depending on current conditions and weather but you can expect 1 or 2 nights camping in the mountains, at least one summit objective day and at least one day in Squamish working on skills.
If this course seems a little more in-depth than what you're looking for we also offer an Intro to Mountaineering & Alpinism course.
