Harrison Hut Ski Touring
- Duration: 2 Days (approx.)
- Product code: PRH06Q
The Area:
The Harrison Hut is located at the north end of the Pemberton Icefield at 1725m. This puts it at treeline which is ideal for both alpine ski tours on clear days and tree skiing when it’s storming.
The area is home to numerous glaciers and some amazing peaks with epic ski descents. This includes Earth Peak (2373m), Three Stooges (2441m), Zygo Peak (2623m) and Frozen Boot Peak (2579m), all of which are located right above the hut. A little farther away is the famous Overseer Mountain, the highest peak on the Pemberton Icefield.
The Hut:
The large A-Frame hut is designed to accommodate 15 people and is quite simple with respect to amenities. It has a large loft for sleeping over a kitchen and dining area that’s quite cozy when the wood stove’s burning. The kitchen has a few stoves for cooking. We’ll be bringing in some lights, a generator, firewood and of course some great food. There is no running water, toilets or electricity at the hut, just lots of great skiing!
The Plan:
We’ll be accessing the Harrison Hut by helicopter from a staging area west of Pemberton with groups made up of 8 clients and 2 guides. The trip will be guided and catered but given it's rustic nature some help will be needed with some of the chores.
