Rogers Pass is a name synonymous with deep pow and long descents. There’s an unparalleled amount of soft snow, a longer than usual season and majestic mountains and glaciers, all of which makes this area one of the best backcountry ski spots in the world. The Pass has a huge amount of ski potential, but it’s not without its risks. Location & Access:
Rogers Pass is found in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia between the small mountain towns of Golden and Revelstoke. The skiing is accessed off the Trans-Canada highway making access quite easy, in a way. There is a Winter Permit System in affect in the area because of the extensive avalanche control system used to protect the highway and railway. It's actually the world’s largest mobile avalanche control program. These permits are used to ensure that ski tourers and splitboarders don't enter areas where avalanche control is planned.
