Whistler area Snowcat Access Ski Touring: No more lift lines, crowded backcountry bowls, looking for parking spots, waiting for avalanche closures to lift! Just grab a ride with us in a snowcat for a 30 minute ride into the majestic powder bowls of the Callaghan. The only access to the area is by snowcat and so the only other people in the entire area will be the ones with us on the ride in!

Callaghan Zone:

Snowcat Access Ski Touring is based out of the Callaghan area which is located just outside of Whistler, BC and is a renown powder belt. The area typically gets at least 50% more snow than Whistler! So if you see 30cm at the ski hill you know there's closer to 50cm in this area! From the snowcat drop-off at Callaghan Lake there are several ski touring options including Callaghan Peak, Hidden Peak, Telemagique, Pump and even the option to do a high elevation traverse back to the Rainbow skiing a few lines along the way! At the end of the day we typically ski back down to the drop-off point and then ski down the groomed road to the base but there are also some tree lines that can be followed down towards the base as well.

How the Snowcat Access Ski Touring Program Works:

We meet just outside Whistler at the Callaghan Country base area at 8am. After a quick gear check and some waiver signing we hop on a heated, 14-person snowcat for a shuttle into the Callaghan Lake area. From there we will skin up into the mountains and ski the seldom visited powder lines in the area from large alpine bowls and glaciers to open trees and glades. At the end of the day we generally ski back down the drop off point and then follow the groomed cat track back to base.

Waiver & Risk Management:

As you know, outdoor activities involve numerous hazards including, but not limited to, avalanches, crevasses, rockfall, slips and falls, equipment failure, poor weather, etc. And while we do our best to anticipate and mitigate these hazards we cannot completely eliminate them. So, as with anything fun, you will be required to sign our Participant Release to take part in one of our courses or trips.
